Claimed by Costly Grace (Video Resource)

This spring I was scheduled to deliver a series of lectures as part of the Xplore program at Canadian Mennonite University entitled, “Theological Resistance in Troubled Times:  The Compelling Witness of Dietrich Bonhoeffer.”  Unfortunately, COVID had other ideas.  I was only able to give two of the planned six lectures.  Because I was teaching an intensive course on Bonhoeffer at Providence Theological Seminary the week that Xplore was scheduled to start, I had to record my first lecture:  “Claimed by Costly Grace: The Life of Dietrich Bonhoeffer.”  You can watch that recording below: Continue reading Claimed by Costly Grace (Video Resource)

“It’s the End of the World as We Know It”: Audio Series (Part 2)

Below you’ll find the audio for the second part of my presentation – “It’s the End of the World as We Know It”: Paul, the Kingdom and Living between the Times – from the Kingdom Come conference held at Bayview Glen Alliance Church this past weekend.  Having discussed the riddle of the apparent absence of the kingdom in Paul’s writings in the first part of the talk, in this section of the presentation I begin to consider the eschatological outlook at the heart of Paul’s theology. “It’s the End of the World as We Know It”: Audio Series (Part 1)

Upcoming Public Lecture on Climate Change

For those in the GTA (Greater Toronto Area), Tyndale University College and Seminary is hosting what promises to be an interesting public lecture on the subject of climate change by leading climatologist Katharine Hayhoe.  Hayhoe, a self-identified evangelical Christian, was recently named to Time Magazine’s list of “The 100 Most Influential People.”  The title of her talk is:  “A Climate for Change:  Paris and Beyond – A Christian Response to the 2015 United Nations Climate Change Conference in Paris.”

The event is this coming Saturday, January 16 beginning at 6:00 pm.  More information about the event and about purchasing tickets can be found here.
