I’m currently in the midst of what has turned out to be a “Farewell to Ontario” preaching tour. This past Sunday, I had the privilege of preaching at North Park Worship Centre in Brampton, Ontario, where my friend and former student Rev. Dr. Mark Lawrence is the Assistant Pastor. It was refreshing to preach in a context where people are disappointed if you don’t preach for forty minutes. (Although, preaching forty minute sermons at consecutive services did test my physical endurance!) It was also a great encouragement to be commissioned and prayed for by God’s people.
The previous Sunday, June 17, I was delighted to have the opportunity to preach at Byron United Church in London, Ontario, where I was baptized and confirmed in the faith. Not only did my dad get a sermon for Father’s Day, but he seemed to relish the opportunity to introduce the guest preacher for the day. My text for the sermon was the call of Abram in Genesis 12:1-9. You can listen to the audio of the sermon here.
Or, if you’d prefer to watch the video of the sermon, you can view it here.
I’ll be wrapping up my unofficial farewell tour by preaching at Knox Presbyterian on Spadina Avenue in Toronto, Ontario on July 15 and at Amberlea Presbyterian in Pickering, Ontario on July 29.
